| A Note from the Founder |
This is me, Fern, on one of the most joyous of days back in my home country of New Zealand, with my partner in crime (/life/business) just out of shot, and our son, our inspiration, Maximilian.⠀
I have a PhD in (textile) Chemistry, am a specialist in textile innovation and, as you may have noticed, a bit of a sustainability advocate. When building LOMIE I wanted to contribute to changing the way items are created and used, encouraging people to buy quality over quantity and hence consuming less by buying wiser.⠀
All LOMIE items embody Scandinavian design principles. We focus on high functionality products made from natural fibres, production procedures that create minimal waste (or use others!) and all our items are created to last the test of time.⠀
Innovating doesn't always mean creating something new from scratch. Sometimes the greatest innovations are through being inspired by, and maximising, the properties of common things around us in a non-traditional manner. ⠀
Muslin cloths are your go to when you have a tiny baby, and you always have one at hand for their soft, super absorbent and quick-drying nature. So why not embrace the properties of this age old textile for a bib which requires these? ⠀⠀
✅ The LOMIE Scarf Bib was born.⠀⠀
We were also faced with the huge number of non-biodegradable poppers there were on baby's clothes when having Max. It’s for this reason we developed the Woggle, our unique removable and reusable fastening system, made from offcuts from a local luxury leather goods manufacturer. ⠀
This way your LOMIE Scarf Bibs remain: ⠀
🌱 100% natural ⠀
🌱 100% plastic free⠀
🌱 100% biodegradable⠀
I’m no wordsmith, and am quite a private person, so it doesn’t come easy to promote myself, our brand or our vision. But I am very passionate about what I do and proud of the products we’ve developed. I hope that you’ll love the fashion, function and long life you’ll get from your LOMIE products, and feel good knowing that you're being as kind to the environment as you can be when buying them.
